The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness benefits Montgomery County Women’s Center

The Montgomery County Women’s Center receives a donation of children’s school supplies from The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness

Houston, TX – October 10, 2012 – The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness (TWIHW) is excited to announce their ongoing efforts to benefit The Montgomery County Women’s Center, a non-profit organization that provides abuse victims and their children with emergency shelter, transitional housing, legal services, counseling, and coordinates educational outreach programs in the community.

Regarding domestic violence victims, the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress states, “Adolescents are at risk of academic failure, school drop-out, delinquency, and substance abuse.”

To encourage victimized children to stay in school and help boost their confidence, TWIHW collected donations of school supplies for Montgomery Country Women’s Center during the month of September. Providing these children with a safe and stable environment, emotional support, and material provisions, can help make the transition out of a broken home less traumatic. Thanks to the generous support of TWIHW’s donors, kids recovering from abuse and neglect can attend school knowing that they have everything they need to participate in class.

“We are very excited about the school supplies we collected,” TWIHW founder Dr. Mila McManus said. “These kids deserve a chance to learn and succeed in school and The Montgomery County Women’s Center is helping to make that possible. We have more plans lined up to assist the center, and we look forward to continuing to help families in our community build healthy, happy lives.”

In their continued efforts to support The Montgomery Country Women’s Center, The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness will be volunteering to prepare quarterly meals at the charity’s shelter. They will also host a yard sale on Saturday, Nov 17, from 8:00AM – 1:00PM, with a percentage of proceeds donated to the center. Unsold items will be donated to the charity’s resale shop.

You too can donate or volunteer to help the Montgomery County Women’s Center. To find out how, and to view a schedule of self defense classes and support group meetings, please visit the organization website at http://www.MCWCTheWoodlands.org.
